Proof of Concept of Vehicle to Infrastructure Power Line Communication Link for Tramway CCTV

In the Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) context, issue of broadband connected trains presents a number technical and economic problems. Such links would be benefit for both passengers security needs. Several solutions are available, in particular wireless ones like Wireless Access Vehicular Environments (WAVE), Long Term Evolution (LTE) or 5G, but we explore here feasibility achieving this connectivity, dedicated to trams application, via Broadband over Power Lines (BPL) technology through tramway power supply cables. paper investigate possibility connecting its command post order transmit real time video streams BPL. The Proof Concept (PoC) is presented characterization channel, performances physical layer, measurement available Round Trip Times (RTTs) bit rates. Then demonstrate real-world streaming Closed Circuit TV (CCTV) from two embedded cameras post. PoC was carried out on infrastructure city Lyon. Through PoC, have demonstrated equipping complete commercial line with BPL guaranteeing rate 60 Mega-Bytes per Second (Mb/S) deployment projection solution dynamic context (moving tram), based Power-Line Communication (PLC).
